born in chicago, il and raised in milwaukee, wi, akaash tumuluri is an Indian-American director/writer/producer hailing from
the heartland™, usa. 
despite being born in the midwest, akaash's first language is his ancestral telugu. he learned english at the age of 5 through vhs tapes of disney classics and with the help of cartoon families like the flintsones and jetsons, sparking a love of media.
akaash's music videos have accounted for 30,000+ views on youtube. he has written, directed and produced multiple podcasts, debuting highest at #4 on apple podcasts. his sole work as cinematographer premiered at austin film festival 2023. 
in 2022, as the writer’s room assistant at green gold animation in hyderbad, india, akaash co-developed bara baj gaye, an animated comedy series, pitched to amazon prime, disney/hotstar, and others.
akaash has directed and produced projects utilizing motion
capture, unreal engine, led volume technology, a.i., and virtual reality. his 2024 usc mfa thesis film, califoreclosed, is pending festival submissions after winning the 2024 usc first look industry award for best social change film. 
as host/q&a moderator of the imax theater for
[outside the box office] at usc, akaash has interviewed
countless filmmakers, including susan downey, academy award nominee sean wang, and academy award winners jeremy thomas, karthiki gonsalves, and guneet monga.
